The Krishan Janam(Janmashtami) #2022!

This year Janmashtami will be celebrated on Friday 19, August 2022. Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth (Janam) of the god Krishna on the eighth (Ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada. Krishna Ji was born in Mathura Uttar Pradesh. The number eight has another significance in the Krishna legend in that he is the eighth child of his mother, Devaki. Janmashtami is a grand festival celebrated all over India to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. Krishna Ji is worshipped as the eighth avatar of Vishnu Ji and also as the Supreme god in his own right. He is the god of protection, compassion, tenderness, and love; and is one of the most popular and widely revered among Indian divinities. Hindus celebrate Janmashtami by fasting, singing, praying together, preparing and sharing special food, night vigils, and visiting Krishna or Vishnu temples. Major Krishna temples organize recitation of ”Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita. Many communities organize dance-drama events called Rasa Lila or Krishna Lila.

We wish you all a happy Janmashtami!!!
